Kinesiology · O-ring test

What it is

The O-ring test is a method for reading how the neuromuscular system responds to specific substances. In plain terms: a way of picking up on what suits your body right now and what puts it under strain.

The first time I sat through it, I didn't believe a word of it: fifteen years in finance, a habit of checking everything against numbers. So I'm not asking you to believe it. I'm asking you to try it — and check the result against your own experience.

What a session looks like

  1. You bring your thumb and index finger together into a ring and hold it firmly. I gently try to pull it apart — that gives me your baseline strength.
  2. In your free hand you hold a sealed glass vial with a test sample. Nothing is opened, nothing is swallowed.
  3. With some vials the ring holds as before. With others, the fingers come apart more easily. We go through the basic panel this way — around 30 of the most common triggers: dairy, gluten, nuts, eggs, seafood, soy, coffee, tea, wine, sugar, yeast, spices.

What you'll get

  • A specific list of what is putting your body under strain right now
  • A clear view of which foods are worth removing temporarily and observing
  • Personal nutrition recommendations for your situation
  • An observation plan for the coming weeks

Honest about the limits

Applied kinesiology is an alternative method. It is not part of NHS standards or clinical protocols, and it is not evidence-based medicine.

It is not a medical diagnosis, not a substitute for a blood test and not a treatment. A test result is a hypothesis and a direction worth looking in — not a verdict.

That's why I only use this method alongside nutrition work: kinesiology gives the entry point, nutrition gives the system. We check the hypotheses through changes in what you eat and, where needed, through laboratory tests.
